Van Full of Rare Books Stolen

Rare book dealer Lawrence Van De Carr was robbed of more than $350,000 worth of books in Oakland, CA.

Van De Carr was reportedly left about 400 rare books in his van which was parked outside of his friend’s home when the vehicle was stolen. SF Gate has the scoop:

“The thing about that book is it was as new as the day it was published. Just a perfect, perfect copy. It glistened,” Van De Carr lamented.

“It’s my livelihood, it’s how I make a living,” added Van De Carr, owner of Booklegger’s Books in Chicago. “Now, I have nothing.”
