Touchstone Cancels ‘Straight to Hell’

GSElevatorTouchstone, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, has pulled John Lefevre’s book Straight to Hell, a book behind the Twitter account @GSElevator which claims to document conversations overheard in the Goldman Sachs elevators.

“In light of information that has recently come to our attention since acquiring John Lefevre’s STRAIGHT TO HELL, Touchstone has decided to cancel its publication of this work,” explained the publisher in a press release.

The Twitter account, which counts more than 650,000 followers, has come under scrutiny recently. Lefevre was outed as working at Citigroup, not Goldman Sachs. In a column on Business Insider, Lefevre defended his actions, “GSElevator has never been an anonymous person. It’s not a person at all. It’s the embodiment or aggregation of “every banker,” a concentrated reflection of a Wall Street culture and mentality.”
