Calvin Reid and Jody Culkin of PW Daily flew into San Jose for the O’Reilly Tools of Change conference a day ahead of me so they could take in some of the more intensive workshops, and file a first-day report on the significance of XML in publishing’s future, the extensible markup language that proponents celebrate for its flexibility across a variety of digital platforms, from the basic e-book to mobile-ready formats. Reid and Culkin will be filing similar reports tomorrow and Thursday.
