“This Is Sorta Like the Blair Witch Project”

Elizabeth Hand‘s Generation Loss is one of the novels I’m pretty geared up to read this summer, so when Small Beer Press let us know that they’d put up a video interview with Hand, I was there pretty quickly. I don’t know if conducting an interview in a root cellar is an effective strategy for every author, but Hand has a pretty good time talking about the influence of Patti Smith, the differences between her and her narrator, and the role photography plays in her novel. At eight minutes, it makes for an excellent coffee break!
