The Best Pitch I’ve Heard All Day

jim-lindberg.jpgFrom an email promoting Pennywise guitarist Jim Lindberg‘s Punk Rock Dad:

“Through his book published by HarperCollins, Jim details his hilarious experiences as a punk rocker and a respected father of three little girls with stories that will literally have you laughing out loud.”

What, did they really think people were going to give Lindberg flak for publishing his memoir with The Man? Or does HarperCollins have a reputation for not bringing the funny? (And if so, who’s going to be the one to tell Christopher Moore?)

Oh, hell, wait: That’s through, not though (I guess that would explain the missing verb, too). OK, I’ll cop to needing to wear my glasses when I’m at the computer, but cut me some slack: That’s still a terrible opening clause. There’s no known way of saying an English sentence in which you begin a sentence with “through” and emphasize it. Get me a jury and show me how you can say “Through his book,” and I’ll… Anyway, I’d love to know how you emphasize “Through” in “Through his book.” Impossible! Meaningless!
