With Amazon.com, social networking, and literary blogs connecting writers virtually with readers, it’s easy to forget local ways to reach new readers.

In this video interview with New York Round Table Writers‘ Conference panelist Stephanie Dickinson, the author explained her local approach to promoting “Half Girl“–taking her book to schools in Iowa.

She’s not the only writer with a local focus. Authors Bob Burg and John David Mann took their motivational tome, “The Go-Giver,” to school, coordinating with a teacher at Valapraiso, Indiana’s Wheeler High School.
