Terry McMillan dishes out advice

By Carmen

Way back when I first put on the Galleycat garb, I was extremely amused by the prospect of Terry McMillan — who was then in the news for her extremely nasty divorce from her “oops, I’m gay” husband, Jonathan Plummer — giving advice to high school graduates. But now the book’s arrived, and she talks to USA Today’s Bob Minzesheimer about some of the tips she’s especially keen on. No. 3: “Don’t listen to your parents…. If for any reason they don’t like the path you’ve chosen, tough nuggies.”

Yup, she really said “tough nuggies.”

Anyway, she’ll be following up It’s OK if You’re Clueless and 23 More Tips for the College Bound with a memoir, DON’T PITY THE FOOL, which which will address the “whole ordeal” of her very public and extremely messy divorce.
