Taschen to Reprint Salvador Dalí’s Illustrated Cookbook

By Maryann Yin

Dalí Cookbook (GalleyCat)Taschen announced plans to reprint Salvador Dalí’s 1973 cookbook, Les Diners de Gala. Throughout his lifetime, Dalí established a career as a surrealist painter.

Here’s more from WIRED: “The reissue is a faithful clone of the original. Dalí’s recipes—which are all, somewhat remarkably, actual recipes you can follow—come with his original, colorful, at times erotic illustrations. The paintings, drawings, and collages that fill the book are less instructive than the actual recipes, but they’re the stars of Les Diners de Gala.”

This heavily illustrated book contains a total of 136 recipes. The Telegraph reports that some of Dalí’s dishes include “conger of the rising sun,” “veal cutlets stuffed with snails,” and “thousand year old eggs.” The publisher has scheduled the release date for November 20. (via Bustle)
