A theater group in Omaha, NE has adapted Stephen King’s The Shining for the stage. The new play, directed by Jason Levering, opens tomorrow night at Omaha’s Sokol Auditorium.

The group will perform for three shows, all of which have sold out. Proceeds from the performance will go to help save the theater. King granted the group the rights to the three performances.

“Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Stephen King, we have a unique opportunity to bring his horror masterpiece to the stage for a great cause. A little known fact is that Mr. King originally conceived ‘The Shining’ as a sort of play – a tragedy with five acts – but it instead evolved into a novel with five parts,” stated Levering.
