Starbucks Hasn’t Changed Norman Ollestad

“It’s still just as hard to write a good sentence,” Norman Ollestad told us when we found him in the HarperCollins booth at BookExpo America last Friday afternoon—we’d asked whether having his new memoir, Crazy for the Storm, selected by Starbucks for its book program (which pretty much guarantees bestseller status) had changed his life. We also talked about what it was like to revisit the plane crash that killed his father—leaving the 11-year-old Ollestad to climb down a mountain alone—every day when he sat down at the keyboard.
