Good Morning America hosted Justin Cronin yesterday, and to accompany the interview they’ve got an excerpt of his novel, The Passage, up on their website.
This book: the way the media is parading it around, you’d think it’s an authorized sequel to the Bible. Ever since the New York Times predicted it would be a bestseller (with an article that all but sealed the deal on that), every newspaper, magazine, radio show and website in America has added twigs to the bonfire. The book was released yesterday. It probably sold really, really well. Is it the next Twilight? Yes, probably! Why? Because you talked about it so much. Welcome to book publishing as a Mobius strip: giant advance begets Times article, begets incessant chatter, begets Bestseller, begets even bigger advance.
