Christie’s Auction House has sold first four editions of William Shakespeare’s plays. The Associated Press reports that the winning buyer paid £2.5 million GBP (approximately $3.68 million USD).
According to the Christie’s website, this sale was organized to honor the 400th anniversary of the death of The Bard. Scholars estimate that Shakespeare wrote 38 plays and 154 sonnets in his lifetime.
