Scene @ Rain Village Pub Party

molly-carolyn.jpgCarolyn Turgeon (foreground) pauses “backstage” at Otto’s Shrunken Head with performer/artist Molly Crabapple and a burlesque dancer whose name I didn’t catch, just before the carnivalesque show celebrating the publication of Turgeon’s first novel, Rain Village, following a sell-out reading at the Astor Place Barnes & Noble. (Actually, in the interest of full disclosure, Carolyn’s a pal and formidable Scrabble opponent, as well as a Beatrice guest star.) Between gigs, Turgeon revealed that she’ll be helping to break in the new Borders at Atlas Park in Glendale next month in a reading with fellow local author Jeanine Cummins.
