Rumors of a Big Screen Kindle

amazon_kindle_21.jpgJust one week after the announcement that Amazon acquired the company that makes the Stanza e-reader, rumors have surfaced that a larger version of the Kindle will be released soon–ideally suited for reading periodicals and textbooks.

According to a NY Times report, unnamed sources said the news company would play some role in the release but company spokespeople would not comment. However, TechCrunch notes there will be a press conference May 6–held in the newspaper’s former offices. Update: GalleyCat will report straight from the event on Wednesday.

Here’s more from the Times: “As early as this week, according to people briefed on the online retailer’s plans, Amazon will introduce a larger version of its Kindle wireless device tailored for displaying newspapers, magazines and perhaps textbooks.”
