Random House Audio & OverDrive Partner for ‘Community Sourced’ Audiobook

By Jason Boog

lendyrvoice.jpgAt the American Library Association Annual Conference in Washington DC this month, Random House Audio and OverDrive will let aspiring audiobook narrators read one page of a “community sourced” audiobook.

Participants in the “Lend Your Voice” event will each be assigned a passage from L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. OverDrive will host the reading inside the company’s traveling Digital Bookmobile–a giant 18-wheeler loaded with eBook and audiobook resources.

Here’s more about the event: “Random House Audio will release this recording as a digital exclusive that participants and others can download and share online. To participate in Lend Your Voice, eager narrators can stop by the Digital Bookmobile located across the street from the Renaissance Hotel (at 999 9th St NW) to read a passage from the book. The studio will be open to the public (although children under 18 will need a parent or guardian) from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, June 25 and 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27.”
