Randall Munroe Asks ‘What If?’ at TED 2014

Randall Munroe, the creator of the “xkcd” webcomic, gave a presentation at TED 2014 about how asking “What if…?” influences his work.

During his talk, Munroe revealed that he enjoys using math to answer hypothetical questions and creating comics about them. He shared a story about encountering a particularly hard question: “If all digital data were stored on punch cards, how big would Google’s data warehouse be?”

We’ve embedded the full talk in the video above. In addition to delivering his presentation, Munroe also contributed drawings for Allan Adams’ improvised talk, “The Discovery That Could Rewrite Physics.” What do you think? (via the TED Blog)
