Publisher Revenues Down 2.7% in Q1 2016

Publisher revenues were $2.14 billion in Q1 2016, down 2.7 percent as compared to the same quarter last year, according to the Association of American Publishers.

Trade sales during the quarter were $1.37 billion, down 7.4 percent. Adult books generated $941.3 million in sales, representing a 10.3 percent drop. Childrens/YA Books were down 2.1 percent at $320.5 million. Religious Presses saw revenues increase 5.8 percent during the quarter bringing in $105.9 million.

In March alone, trade books sales were $458.7 million, down 5.6 percent year-over-year.E-book sales were down 21.4 percent ing March and 21.8 percent year-over-year.
