The project is called Books about Town. Artists have been asked to adapt famous books into benches which will be placed throughout the city in July 2014. The “BookBenches” project is designed to encourage reading. Here is more about the project from the Literacy Trust’s website:

The benches, shaped as open books, will be unveiled in various locations across the capital from next July 2014 and visitors will have the chance to discover them by following literary trails around London.
