Online Publications That Should Team Up With Publishers

Today, Random House announced a partnership with online publisher Politico to develop a series of eBooks about the 2012 presidential campaign. The series will include four eBooks that will be published in real time as the election unfolds.

We think this kind of partnership could produce some great content. Here’s a list of five more online publications that should team up with publishers for eBooks:

  1. TMZ: For followers of celebrity gossip, it would be great to read an eBook roundup from the site that often breaks celebrity news. They’d be well informed enough to do a big picture roundup of Charlie Sheen’s entire decline.
  2. Treehugger: This blog covers environmental issues and new green technologies. It would be great to read the full story on how topics like electric cars and solar boating are evolving.
  3. BoingBoing: This self-proclaimed “directory of wonderful things,” always has cool content. They’ve been great at covering DRM issues over the past few years and it would be cool to read an eBook that gives you a history of the subject, as it applies to music, movies and eBooks.
  4. Engadget: This blog covers technology. It would be cool to read an eBook on the evolution of mobile phones from their coverage.
  5. The New York Times: It would be great to be able to read an eBook that rounds up all of the reporting on stories like the conflict in Libya and adds big picture analysis to the unfolding story.
