Now That’s What We Call a Book Party

If you were reading this blog last May, you might remember the book party for Pitch Perfect, Mickey Rapkin‘s look at the competitive world of college a cappella singing, and how we “introduced” Rapkin to Kate Torgovnick, who had just published a similar book about college cheerleaders called Cheer!. The two books recently came out in paperback, and the authors decided to throw a joint celebration, taking over the top floor at Pianos Monday night. This was to be no ordinary reading, however—Rapkin brought along Divisi, one of the groups that he’d written about. Unfortunately, the lighting in the bar was sub-optimal for videotaping, but here’s some footage of a similar performance of the song with which they closed their set, Usher’s “Yeah”:
