Nick Offerman Lands Book Deal

By Jason Boog

Hearty Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman has inked a book deal for a “humorous memoir peppered with salty treatises about the state of manhood” with Penguin’s Dutton imprint.

Paddle Your Own Canoe: Nick Offerman’s Fundamentals for Delicious Living, is scheduled for an October 2013 release. Levine Greenberg Literary Agency agents Monika Verma and Daniel Greenberg negotiated the deal. Executive editor Jill Schwartzman will edit the memoir.

He plays Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation, and counts more than 107,000 followers on Twitter.

Here’s more from the release: “In addition to his television and film career (which includes 21 Jump StreetSomebody Up There Likes Me and the forthcoming We’re the Millers) Offerman runs a woodshop in Los Angeles where he handcrafts boats, furniture, Hobbit pipes, and specialty mustache combs.  Combining Offerman’s trademark comic voice with his very real expertise in woodworking and other manly arts, Paddle Your Own Canoe will be a mix of humorous stories, opinionated rants, and fun-filled pieces like his ‘ode to bratwurst.'”
