Newsweek reported Sunday evening that Maziar Bahari, a reporter and documentary filmmaker who has covered events in Iran for the magazine for more than a decade, had been detained without cause by Iranian authorities, having been taken from his home early that morning. The unidentified security officers also took Bahari’s laptop and several videotapes. Newsweek adds that he is one of nearly two dozen journalists who have been forcibly detained since the presidential election of June 12. Just last week, Bahari appeared in a segment of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in which Jason Jones filed a factfinding report from Tehran.

Bahari is also the co-editor of Transit Tehran, a collection of work by young Iranian artists and journalists distributed in the United States by International Publishers Marketing.
