Mobile Book Fair Up for Sale

The Strymish family, the owners of New England’s Mobile Book Fair, have put the independent bookstore up for sale.

The Boston Globe quoted Mobile Book Fair general counsel and COO Steve Gans on the details behind the deal: “The offer to sell the business includes the bookstore name, brand, and inventory of millions of volumes, games, and other products, Gans said. It does not include the 30,000-square-foot warehouse and 104-car parking lot on Needham Street or the company’s e-commerce cookbook site.”

Paul Siegenthaler, who handled the sales of the Harvard Book Store and the Wellesley Booksmith, has been hired to oversee Mobile Book Fair’s sale. The article included interviews with old customers concerned about the future of the store–hoping a real “book lover” would take over the bookseller. (Via Publishers Weekly)
