MinnPost.com Launches “Book Club Club”

By Jason Boog

minnpost.jpgThe nonprofit journalism site MinnPost.com just announced a rare bit of publishing news, the most encouraging thing literary types can read about on Monday afternoon: a brand new books website.

Entitled “Book Club Club,” the section will be edited by Sarah T. Williams, the former Star Tribune books editor–who will build “virtual community of existing book clubs and engaged readers.” According to the site, they’ve already registered 70 private book clubs and 112 public clubs to participate in the community site.

Check it out: “We know the section will evolve, but here’s what you’ll find today at launch: Book Club Diary. Posts. Club Chatter. Minnesota Best-Sellers. Articles from The Loft, which will be updated weekly. RSS feeds from our first two content sponsors — The Loft and Friends of the St. Paul Public Library — listing their own events. And something we believe has never been compiled before — a directory with detailed information about 112 book clubs that are open to the public.” (Via Publishers Weekly)
