Megan McKinney Pleads Guilty to Fraud

Ruth Leslie Goodman–better known by her romance novel pen name, Meagan McKinney (pictured)–has pleaded guilty to fraud charges.

Eyewitness News reports that Goodman had submitted falsified documents claiming ten of her properties were damaged during Hurricane Katrina (the properties were actually owned by her father). She also wrongfully obtained a Canadian passport.

The article has more details: “Goodman confessed to defrauding FEMA, the Road Home program and the Small Business Administration of more than $439,000. She faces up to 45 years after pleading guilty to mail fraud, theft, making false statements and passport fraud, but her sentence probably will be much lighter because of her plea bargain.” (Via Jane L)
