Marilynne Robinson to Receive the Library of Congress’ Prize for American Fiction

library of congress logoThe Library of Congress has named Marilynne Robinson as the recipient of the 2016 Prize for American Fiction. This award honors an American literary writer who has established a long career and who has “told us something new about the American experience.”

Past recipients include Louise Erdrich, E. L. DoctorowPhilip Roth, Toni Morrison, and John Grisham. Throughout her career, Robinson has written and published four novels and five nonfiction books.

Robinson gave this statement in the press release: “American literature has been a kind of spiritual home to me for as long as I have been aware of it. So this award could not be more gratifying.” The award will be presented to her during the National Book Festival which is scheduled to take place on September 24.
