Little, Brown Lists Mysterious Book: Untitled by Anonymous

By Dianna Dilworth

Little, Brown & Company is building suspense around a new release, sending bookstore buyers with a coy description of the book: Untitled by Anonymous.

In an email, the publisher described the book as “the inside story of life with one of the most controversial figures of our time.” The New York Times speculated that Bernard Madoff might be the subject of the book and Catherine Hooper and Laurie Sandell could be the authors. What do you think?

Here is more from the Times: “[One clue] suggests that the topic could be Bernard L. Madoff because Ms. Hooper was identified in recent interviews in The New York Times and People magazine as the glamorous, dark-haired fiancée of Andrew Madoff, the younger son of Mr. Madoff. Ms. Sandell is a freelance magazine writer and graphic novelist in Brooklyn, according to her Web site.”

The book is reportedly a 320-page, nonfiction hardcover with a $26.99 price tag that will hit stores in November. No one will comment officially on this book, building buzz around Little, Brown’s mystery. (Via Sarah Weinman).
