A New Mexico librarian is fighting the city after she lost her job after she allegedly walked in on the head librarian having sex with a maintenance worker, in the children’s section of the branch.
The former Estancia Library employee Jamie Kurz was officially dismissed because she went on leave and did not return the key. However, Kurz claims that she was fired after she reported the indiscretion to her superior.
United Press International interviewed Joseph CampBell, Kurz’s attorney about the case:
The workers told Kurz to be quiet, but she reported the incident to the city library director and Estancia Mayor Sylvia Chavez, CampBell said.
“The mayor subsequently talked to Jamie about it, told her that it wouldn’t have any effect on her job,” CampBell said.
CampBell revealed plans to file a claim against the city which could be followed up by a “whistleblower” lawsuit. (Via The School Library Journal).
