Grammy award winning musician Lenny Kravitz will play fashion stylist Cinna in The Hunger Games film adaptation.
As an actor, Kravitz (pictured, via) is best known for his portrayal of Nurse John in the 2009 literary adaptation Precious.
Director Gary Ross made this remark about his performance in the press release: “When I saw Lenny’s work in Precious I was just knocked out. It was quiet and strong and understated and open hearted; all qualities which define this character.”
Hunger Games fans have been vocal with their opinions about the casting decisions made thus far. News of Kravitz’s hiring has incited protest as fans complain on Facebook that they cannot picture him in the role. What do you think of this casting choice?
Note that several skeptics have expressed a willingness to embrace Kravitz as long as he delivers a phenomenal performance. Some fans have already started to soften towards lead actress Jennifer Lawrence when Entertainment Weekly released the first photos of her decked out in Katniss Everdeen gear last week.
