We caught up with Laura Caldwell at BookExpo America Saturday afternoon, just after she’d finished an autographing session at the Mystery Writers of America booth. She was signing copies of Red Hot Lies, the first of three novels Harlequin will publish this summer featuring lawyer-turned-investigator Izzy McNeil. We talked about what it’s like to write three novels in a year-and-a-half, then plunge straight into writing a memoir for Free Press about her work with the Life After Innocence Project.
