Kickstarter Project to Help Parents Teach Kids About Death

By Maryann Yin

Writer Daniel Patrick Helmstetter and illustrator Box Brown hope to raise $6,000 on Kickstarter to fund the printing and shipping costs for their picture book, Bodies of Water. Above, we’ve embedded a video about the project.

Here’s more about the project: “[This picture book stars] a boy named Timothy, and a snowflake named Sara.  It’s a story about happiness, and loss, and ultimately a story about learning to live in the world exactly as it is. It tackles the impossible topic of death, and does so in a way that parents will be not only comfortable, but also eager, to share it with their kids. Though Bodies of Water is written for children, the depth of it will impact, and hopefully bring a bit of peace, to anyone of any age.”
