Diary of a Wimpy Kid series creator Jeff Kinney and Captain Underpants series creator Dav Pilkey will appear together at a free webcast. The online event will take place on January 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. EST.
Scholastic has arranged for Kinney and Pilkey to collaborate on a “Story Smashup” project. The two children’s literature titans will use suggestions from an audience of children to construct an original story.
According to the press release, the event is meant to teach viewers “how to write a story—exploring character, setting, plot, action, and more. The webcast will be globally accessible for free starting January 15, 2014, and afterward for replay, at www.scholastic.com/kpwebcast.”
