Jason Rekulak has been promoted to publisher of Quirk Books. In addition, Brett Cohen has been promoted to president at Quirk Books and David Borgenicht will take the role of Quirk Productions CEO.
Rekulak acquired and edited many of the house’s bestsellers including the mash-up title Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and the young adult novel Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

Two members of the Alfred A. Knopf editorial team will take on new roles. Jordan Pavlin moves up to vice president and executive editor. Robin Desser has been appointed vice president and editorial director.
Some of the titles on Pavlin’s list include A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan and Swamplandia! by Karen Russell. Desser has also worked on many bestsellers such as Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen.
Two imprints at Hachette Book Group have also made changes to its editorial staff.
Over at Little, Brown, Victoria Matsui has been promoted to assistant editor. She first came on board in March 2012 and has served under CEO Michael Pietsch, senior editor Pat Strachan, and publisher Reagan Arthur.
Twelve imprint publisher Deb Futter has hired Sean Desmond to serve as editorial director. Desmond’s career in publishing includes positions at the ICM talent agency, Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin’s Press, and Random House’s Crown imprint. His first day at Grand Central Publishing is scheduled for May 28th.
Mary Gannon will jump from Poets & Writers, Inc. to the Academy of American Poets. With this new career direction, she assumes the newly-created position of associate director and director of content. Throughout her writing career, Gannon’s poems have appeared in many literary publications including The Antioch Review, The Paris Review, and Washington Square.
