Introducing Kia Dupree – “Damaged”

By Jeff Rivera

Kia Dupree makes her legacy published debut in the gritty touching novel, Damaged (Grand Central). The book is receiving phenomenal reviews by fans of urban fiction. Dupree is an example of the growing trend of urban self-published novelist who somehow break all odds and end up landing a traditional publishing deal.

This award-winning novelist worked for years pounding the pavement, writing and rewriting a novel, retooling her style to become more mainstream. She succeeded in doing so, creating a novel called, Damaged. And as luck would have it, she landed an agent.

In Damaged, Dupree tells the story of Camille Logan, an inner city girl living in Washington D.C. She bounces from foster home to foster home until she lands at the Brinkley’s who take her abuse to a new level. She is rescued, believe it or not, by a drug dealer who truly does love and care for her but Camille is on her own once again as the one man who cared for her is murdered.

Kia Dupree is certainly an author to look out for in the urban fiction scene.
