Indiegogo Campaign Launched for Bluestockings Bookstore

By Maryann Yin

The team behind the Bluestockings Bookstore and Activist Center have launched a crowdfunding venture on Indiegogo. They hope to raise $50,000 to remodel the space and upgrade the equipment.

According to The Gothamist, this New York City-based bookstore is “one of just 13 feminist bookstores in America.” We’ve embedded a video about the project above.

Here’s more about the campaign: “In June of 2015, Bluestockings signed a new, five-year lease on our storefront at 172 Allen Street. We are thrilled to have secured our space for another five years, but grappling with paying higher rent. As we plan ahead for the next five years, Bluestockings believes that physical renovations to our storefront are vital to meeting demands of an ever-changing publishing industry and expanding our customer base. We are are excited to invest in making much-needed improvements to the space, and are asking for your help to do so.” (via Bowery Boogie)
