If All Novels Had Smartphones

The College Humor video embedded above dropped smartphones into some classic films. Allowing characters to access Facebook, Wikipedia, and Google really ruined some famous endings.

Enjoy the web video, but then ask yourself–what would happen if characters in famous novels had smartphones? Share your thoughts in the comments for a future post.

We like to imagine that if Nick Carraway had a smartphone in The Great Gatsby, he could have frequently updated his Facebook page with pictures of Tom, Daisy and Gatsby. Social networking could have helped avoid some of the disastrous misunderstandings at the climax of the book.
