So you spent time, energy, and money building a brilliant book trailer for your new release. Why not put it on TV? Today, one advertising reporter explained how you can use Google TV Ads to promote your book.
Today’s guest on the Morning Media Menu was Slate ad critic Seth Stevenson. At Slate V, he built a simple video advertisement, and used Google TV Ads to broadcast his ad on cable television–scoring a staggering 1.3 million total television views in a week, all for $1,300.

He summarized how publishers can use this new tool: “For publishers, or even for individual authors, it’s a great tool…I know in publishing today you don’t need to sell too many books to be considered a success. If you can reach 500,000 people with an ad for your book for $500, the math almost makes too much sense.”
Stevenson concluded: “I do in fact have a book coming out in April–Grounded: A Down to Earth Journey Around the World … I am seriously considering making an ad and broadcasting it on television. Why not? Publishers are making these little book trailers, slideshows, and such, and they put them up on YouTube or the author’s website. But for not a lot of money, we could be putting them up on cable TV. I could target my book to the travel channels–it seems like a no-brainer.”
