Head of the Class: Scholastic Seeks New Director of Marketing

By Nadine Cheung

If you have a background in education, here’s a great gig for you. Scholastic is looking for a new marketing director to oversee and direct all promotional activity for its classroom books programs for grades 6-12.

Here, you’ll be responsible for providing market analysis that identifies trends and competitive strengths and/or weaknesses. The company will be looking to you to pinpoint growth opportunities as well as threats. You’ll collaborate with editorial and design on developing marketing messages, and be expected to entertain key authors, academics and decision-makers at national education conferences and trade shows.

To be considered, you’ll need at least eight years of marketing experience in education, with an emphasis on upper grades. Proficiency in PowerPoint and Web-based marketing are desirable skills, and born leaders are most welcome. If you can work well with others while juggling data and financials, apply here.
