In September, the Harlequin Teen imprint will celebrate its one-year anniversary–riding the YA wave that has swept publishing.

Harlequin Teen has one million books in print and promises much more to come to feed the masses who make up the young-adult fiction readership. In 2009, the list only included an acquisition of three titles. In 2010, that number has more than quintupled because Harlequin Teen will close the year with a total of sixteen new titles. Some of the authors include Julie Kagawa, Rachel Vincent, and Gena Showalter.

According to the press release, Harlequin Teen has also launched its first book series based on a television show Greek: Double Date. Greek, the ABC Family TV series, reaches nearly 24 million viewers and since its debut in 2007. ABC Family reports that 82 percent of their teen audience is reading books outside of school, making the new publishing venture a shrewd move. The second in the series Greek: Best Frenemies will be released in October with other titles quickly following in November of this year and February 2011.
