Guest Dueling Reviews: Altschul and Edison

By Ethan

When I heard about Andrew Foster Altschul’s Lady Lazarus just out from Harcourt I thought he’d be great to pair him off against Mike Edison’s I Have Fun Everywhere I Go: Savage Tales of Pot, Porn, Punk Rock, Pro Wrestling, Talking Apes, Evil Bosses, Dirty Blues, American Heroes, and the Most Notorious Magazines in the World (Faber & Faber) especially since Altschul’s novel is about the daughter of a famous punk rock star who killed himself when she was an infant and grows up to be a confessional poet, and a Britney-style tabloid disaster. So how does fictionalized story of a memoir writer match up against the real deal of a hard drinkin punk rocker? Stay tuned for the reviews….
