Gothamist To Pay $5,000 for Long-Form Nonfiction Piece

The Gothamist, a popular New York City blog, seeks to publish long-form nonfiction essays.

Here are more details from the announcement: “We will pay one journalist $5,000 to write a long-form non-fiction piece in the 5,000 to 15,000 word range. Subject: Something relevant to our audience of over one million 20-36 year-old readers in New York, timely but with a shelf-life longer than a week.”

After the editing and production process, the piece will be made available as an eBook priced betwen $1 and $3. Interested parties should submit a standard pitch letter before the July 1st deadline. The first piece will be chosen by July 8th and the site hopes to publish at the end of the month.
