georgerrmartinDuring Comic-Con International, author George R.R. Martin revealed that he would not be penning an episode for Game of Thrones season five. Ever since the HBO show began, Martin made it a practice to write one script each season.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Martin revealed that the reason for this decision is because “I have this book that I need to finish.” Book fans will be relieved to hear that Marin wants to focus on the highly anticipated A Song of Ice and Fire title, The Winds of Winter. Not too long ago, Martin expressed his extreme distaste for people who speculate that he may pass on before wrapping up his epic book series.

Comic-Con weekend also meant the unveiling of a video (embedded below) featuring all the new additions to the Game of Thrones cast. The new characters who will appear in the forthcoming seasons include Doran MartellTrystane MartellThe High SparrowMyrcella BaratheonAreo HotahYezzanNymeria “Nym” SandTyene Sand, and Obara Sand (to be played by Keisha Castle-Hughes).
