ronhogan23.jpgHoughton Mifflin Harcourt Trade & Reference Division has hired GalleyCat senior editor Ron Hogan as director of e-marketing strategy. He will replace Sanj Kharbanda, who has headed to the publisher’s Digital Strategy Group.

Houghton senior VP, director of marketing Bridget Marmion had this statement: “Marketing tools and opportunities grow and change every day, and we want to be nimble, creative and targeted in using them. Ron’s role is to help integrate the most effective current and future e-marketing tools into our efforts to bring our adult and children’s titles to the greatest possible number of readers. His technical expertise, industry perspective, love of books and long immersion in the online world uniquely qualify him for the job.”

In 1995, Hogan launched literary site Beatrice. He has also worked as a staff editor at Amazon. Hogan helped re-launch GalleyCat in 2005, and has guided this site ever since. Most importantly, Hogan taught this GalleyCat editor everything he knows about publishing, and his writings will be sorely missed on these pages.
