GalleyCat Gallery: Mr. French & Callie

By Neal

catgallery-mrfrench.jpgMr. French is one of two “research assistants” to Lynn Peril, whose second look at 20th-century pop culture’s wacky ideas about femininity, College Girls: Bluestockings, Sex Kittens and Coeds, Then and Now, is coming out this summer. Mr. French is two years younger than his brother, Krebs (who also loves books), but, Peril reports, “about three times the size.”

catgallery-callie.jpgOverlook Press publicity manager John Mark Boling wasn’t sure he wanted the world to see his bookshelves, but this photo of Callie resting on a line of Simenon mysteries was too cute to resist. “Our other cat, Bruce, likes to hang out over the Wodehouse,” he reports, “but I don’t have a picture of it.”

He adds, “Thanks for confirming any unrealized stereotypes shared between cat people and book people!” You betcha. Thanks again to all our readers who sent in their pictures, and remember, dog owners, you’ll get your chance later this summer! Normal publishing industry news reportage will resume shortly…
