GI_Joe-Origins02-covA400.pngFor better or for worse, G.I. Joe opened in theaters last night. Critics will cringe, 21st Century kids will test a new toy franchise, and adults will revisit some childhood battles. GalleyCat has collected some literary links to help both G.I. Joe friends and foes think about the new movie.

First up, IDW has published a new comic book series, penned by Larry Hama, the writer behind the G.I. Joe comic books in the 1980s. IDW also published iPhone editions of the new comic books. After that, check out the G.I. Joe trailer reenacted with toy soldiers.

Last week GalleyCat ran a video feature about G.I. Joe fan fiction. The last few minutes of today’s Morning Media Menu turned to speculation about the new movie. Finally, before seeing the movie’s new take on global affairs, read about “The Military-Toy-Industrial Complex.”
