Fox Movie Partnership Points Toward Amazon Tablet

Amazon will host a New York City press conference this week, and many speculate the online retailer will unveil a new $250 tablet.

Today Amazon announced a licensing agreement with Fox that will give Amazon Prime members the ability to instantly stream movies and TV shows from the Fox library. This hypothetical tablet would not only be a device for eBooks, but it would also be a device for streaming movies.

Amazon now has more than 11,000 movies available, making its service a closer competitor with Netflix.  It would also help Amazon compete with the iPad, since many iPad users use their tablet to read eBooks and stream movies.
