Former White House Aide to Publish Memoir

Scott McLellan, former White House press secretary, has signed with PublicAffairs to write his memoirs, reports the Associated Press. Financial terms were not disclosed. McClellan served as President Bush’s chief spokesman from 2003 to 2006, and was also an aide to Bush when he was governor of Texas. “The book will take readers behind-the-scenes of the Bush presidency, covering both strengths and weaknesses, successes and shortcomings with refreshing candor,” according to a statement issued Tuesday by PublicAffairs. Memoirs by press secretaries are hardly new; McLellan’s predecessor, Ari Fleischer, wrote his accounts in 2005.
