Susan Johnston, the playwright who provided the narrative infrastructure to former GOP fundraiser Nicole Sexton‘s roman à clef, Party Favors, tells FishbowlNY that “one of the biggest muckety-mucks within the [Republican] party” leaned on Sexton requesting she cancel a scheduled St. Paul bookstore appearance this week. “Apparently the GOP feels that the book is critical of GOP fundraising and campaign related tactics,” Johnston writes in an email blast, “and therefore a book signing could be embarrassing to the Party… She had a reading/signing in Denver but the Democrats didn’t shut her down!”
