Disney will produce a stage adaptation of William Goldman’s 1973 novel, The Princess Bride. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it has not-yet-been confirmed whether this theatrical production will be a musical or a play.
Variety reports that producer Thomas Schumacher has come on board to develop this adaptation. Many fans have felt that “the property, a comic fantasy-romance that generated the now-iconic film adaptation, has long seemed a natural candidate for a large-scale stage version, given its highly recognizable title and a fanciful storyline that would seemingly accommodate musical numbers without much friction.”
In a timely turn of events, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has recently released a new special edition of the beloved book. Artist Michael Manomivibul created the illustrations for this project. What do you think? (via The Huffington Post)
