David Mitchell Speculates on Speculative Fiction Trilogy

zoet.jpgAt a reading last week, novelist David Mitchell hinted that his critically-acclaimed new novel, The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, is part of a speculative fiction trilogy.

Capital New York has the scoop: “During the question-and-answer period … Mitchell announced news that he claimed he hadn’t even yet shared with his publisher: that Jacob de Zoet will be followed by two more books dealing with the theme of immortality and delving further into the realm of speculative fiction.”

When the reporter tried to confirm the new series with Random House, a spokesperson said the publisher had “no official comment” on the proposed series.
